Great to cook on but also fantastic for cold service!
I love to watch cooking shows and love any new to cook or prep with so when I was offered to test this lava stone cooking platter by Zelancio I couldn't resist. I have to admit once it arrived that I wasn't sure that I would like cooking on the stone as it was a bit intimidated at first. I thoroughly read the instructions and researched cooking on a lava stone, then found me some recipes to give it a try.
I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it really was to cook on the stone my intimidation was all in my head, lol. Once I cleaned and prepped the stone, using a very light coating of oil, I was all set to start my adventure. I brought my lava stone up to temperature and then took out a nice seasoned steak and placed onto the stone. The sizzle and smell were amazing. I was able to get a beautiful sear on my meat and cook it to my *well done* liking and then throw some onions on the stone and have one of the best steaks I've had in forever. The clean up was super easy but do be careful as the stone stays hot of quite a while!
I also tried it to keep our cooked shrimp cold and it performed just as well as a cold server! This lava stone set is very versatile and makes a lovely presentation. You can let your guests cook their own or have a nice romantic dinner for two but of course it's the perfect hot or cold surface anytime!
With this beautiful set, you get the serving platter, three condiment bowls, steel tray, wooden board and the lava stone. My platter did arrive broken but the company sent me a new one super fast. The customer service was awesome!
