Sarah's cabins aren't your cookie cutter cabins nor are they like any hotel you'll ever stay at. Sarah is a real person, will a sweet voice, kind heart and a love for people you won't find with the other rental places.
Sarah only has 2 cabins but they are both something special. The cabin we stayed at this time was called The Homestead. This wasn't out first stay in The Homestead but it was the first time in 15 years we had a week together without kids! While speaking with Sarah to book our cabin, I mentioned it was an early 30th anniversary since the Smokey Mountains wasn't feasible in February. She was so sweet that she gave us one night free and had a cake waiting for us when we arrived!!
When you first arrive at The Homestead, one of the first things you will notice is that the cabin is old! It is 150 yrs old and Sarah and her family have kept it up, added on to it and kept the old cabin alive and well. You'll think your a million miles from no where yet your only minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, the Smokies and Pigeon Forge!
Next you'll probably notice the candles in each window, the beautiful decorations on the front porch and the tranquil setting. You can sit on the porch or take a swing in the wonderful porch swing and listen to the water fountain that is in front of the porch.
Upon opening the door, you'll be greeted with wonderful Native American music playing softly in the background. Next you'll notice that there is a peaceful feeling coming over you! You'll want to pause for just a moment and take it in! You'll feel the peace, love, warmth and welcoming feeling you won't feel anywhere else!
Each room of the cabin is decorated with decor of the season. Each room is beautiful on it's own. From the beautiful table settings to the wonderful quilts on the beds, you'll wonder why you never stayed here before.
The living room features a couch and 2 chairs along with a beautiful fireplace that you can enjoy because Sarah even furnishes you with a good amount of wood! There is a television if you want to catch the morning weather. There are antiques on the wall, pillows on the couch and chairs and throw blankets for that cozy cool night! You'll also notice the unique ways they have incorporated lighting with antique jars.
In the kitchen besides the beautiful table settings, you'll notice you have everything you need from stove to microwave. The microwave is setting on an old antique wood cook stove. There is a small table with a journal where you can read what others had to say that were there before you and leave your own thoughts and feeling. Beside the table is an old antique pie safe that houses your dishes and silverware and again the decor is beautiful and inviting.
Walk next to the sun room where you see the stereo player that the beautiful music is coming from and more seating. There is a tree decorated with the holiday or seasonal theme. More throw pillows and a set of double doors leading out to the hot tub! You'll also see a smaller door that leads to a small deck with a table and chairs and a grill for your enjoyment. The view from this room is breathtaking!
Just off the sun room you'll see the first bathroom. The door mimic's that of doors used in times long forgot. You see a beautiful bath a heart shaped jacuzzi tub and barely notice the washer and dryer since you'll be ready to try out that tub and trust me, you should!! The tub is amazingly relaxing and soothing, careful you don't fall asleep! lol
Let's go the wooden stairs that lead you to the bedrooms and another bath. When you see the beds, you going to want to just fall in! They are wonderfully covered with beautiful throw pillows and covered with a gorgeous quilt. You find a nice chair and a dresser for your clothes. There are 2 full bedrooms and what Sarah calls a half bedroom, lol The half bedroom is just at the top of the stairs, there are no walls to make it private but that would be perfect for the kids. Just off the side of the half bedroom you'll see a pedestal sink and mirror. Beside the sink is the doorway to your second bath where you can take a shower or bath in a real antique claw footed tub!
We didn't want to leave but we left with a renewed spirit, healed souls and the best vacation we had ever had! There is no hotel anywhere that has or could give up the peaceful loved feeling that we get when we stay at one of Sarah's cabins!
Give her a call if you want the best experience possible while staying and visiting the Great Smokey Mountains National Park!
I was not compensated in any way for my endorsement of Sarah's Country Elegance Cabin Rentals. I wrote this blog from the heart because after leaving the cabin, my heart wouldn't let go until I told everyone!
