Our built in ice maker recently starting spitting our bits of plastic and rather than a costly repair bill I was offered a chance to review this portable ice maker and let me tell you, it's been a life saver! It is so simple to set up and use that you'll have ice in 5 minutes after the 2 or 3 minute set up. I found it so simple that I didn't even need the user manual. I had nice fresh ice in just under 5 minutes! Ivation thought about the amount of water too as it recycles the water you put in it so you never waste water. It does keep your ice cold for a long time and it takes a good while for it to melt and drip back into the water reservoir to be reused! You get two choices of ice size, Large and Small. It has an indicator to tell you when the water is low and when the ice tray is full. You can even watch your ice being made with the smoke colored yet see through window. Kids will love watching ice freeze and you can throw in a lesson while they're being entertained, lol. It is very quiet when running. I do caution you to make sure to keep the fan area clear so that it can get a nice circulation. You can either empty the ice into a container or bag and place in the freezer but for my needs, I leave it in the machine and keep the machine on my counter so I always have ice! It would also be perfect for an RV, camping, parties or just when you need extra ice.
