Wonderful selection of heirloom tomatoes!
First of all, I have to applaud Sweet Yards for offering heirloom tomato seeds! I generally purchase tomato plants instead of starting from seeds but in recent years have started trying to do more seed starting since I have started having trouble finding heirloom plants. I am not a fan of hybrid vegetables for various reason but the biggest reason is that you can't save any seeds to have for the next growing season. On a recent hunt for some plants, I was amazed at how I could not find one pepper plant that wasn't a hybrid and only 1 tomato plant and it wasn't even a tomato that I liked.
All the seeds are Certified Organic and GMO-Free which is very important to me and each variety comes in its own individual packet. Each packet has its own label with a description and picture of the mature tomato. Most of the varieties I had either grown before or heard of but Sweet Yards has a few varieties that I had never heard of and am very excited to try.
I wanted to plant some and see how many sprout before writing a review. I am very happy to report that I planted 5 seeds from each variety and ended up with most sprouting 4 of the 5 and a couple that sprouted 5 of 5. I don't get that kind of sprout rate from any other seeds I have purchased in the past. There are approximately 40 seeds in each pack, although I didn't take the time to count them. There are enough seeds for sharing or growing a ton of tomatoes for canning!
I very much appreciate Sweet Yards keeping our heirloom tomato from being lost as they seem to be slowly disappearing. I would not hesitate to recommend these seeds to anyone!
